2009 walk - times & statistics now available

The Jersey Christmas Walk (formerly known as the Peter Ward Memorial Mid-Winter Walk) took place on Saturday 12th December 2009. The walk, now in its eighth year, will support our two charities - 75% to Jersey Hospice Care and the remainder being donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association whose sufferers are also cared for by the Hospice.

The walk will appeals to those who enjoy a challenge and after the atrocious weather of the 2008 walk a question mark might also be put against the participants’ sanity as the bedraggled walkers were literally blown along the route 44 mile route. Almost all the walkers commented on how much they enjoyed battling against the elements and the great sense of achievement they felt when they finished (probably something to do with the beer at the Smugglers Pub at the end).

There were three options open to walkers, the 18 mile, 26 mile and 44 mile challenges:

18 mile challenge

Starts: 9.00 a.m.
Route: Les Fontaines Tavern to Ouaisne

26 mile challenge

Starts: 2.00 a.m.
Route: Ouaisne car park to Les Fontaines Tavern

44 mile challenge

Starts: 2.00 a.m.
Route: Ouaisne returning to Ouaisne (after walking around the Island)
